Oil, air and fuel filters are designed to help prevent particles from entering the engine and keep engine parts clean, as well provide long-lasting performance. Regular filter maintenance is imperative. By the time filters show signs of deterioration and need of replacement, they may already be causing damage.
Oil Filters
Oil filters protect the inside of the engine by removing potentially harmful abrasives such as carbon, sand, dust and bits of metal before they can reach critical engine parts and wear out the engine. Oil filters should be replaced every time the engine oil is changed: every six months or 10,000 kms (whichever occurs first) for normal day-to-day driving and more frequently for high-demand driving.
Advantages of Motorcraft® Oil Filters
- Finely engineered filter material has a high dirt-collecting capability
- Pressure relief valve allows uninterrupted oil flow if the filter becomes clogged or engine oil is cold
- Tough steel case resists cracks and ruptures which can cause oil leaks
- Anti-drainback valve keeps oil in the filter to prevent "dry starts".
Air Filters
Air filters help maintain the proper mix of clean air and fuel in the engine. Even fine particles can cause engine wear, so it's important to use a high-quality filter with an exact fit for your vehicle.
Advantages of Motorcraft® Air Filters
- Tight, leak-proof polyurethane seals offer superior performance versus generic filters with plastisol seals
- Features excellent dirt and partical trapping properties and are tested to meet a 98.5 % efficiency standard
- Special treatment enhances capacity and efficiency
- Dry-type cleaner elements are treated to protect engine from potential damage by oil, moisture and temperature extremes.
Fuel Filters
Fuel filters help ensure the delivery of clean fuel from the tank to the engine. Impurities in the gas tank may cause problems such as poor starting, stalling or injector failure.
Advantages of Motorcraft® Fuel Filters
- Durable design is engineered to withstand 6 times the normal operating pressure of the fuel system
- 300 Series stainless steel construction provides excellent internal and external corrosion resistance
- Efficient functioning filters remove 90 % of particles 20 microns or larger. The size of an average grain of sand is 200 microns.
Cabin Air Filters
Cabin air filters work through the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and should be replaced periodically to ensure they are always functioning properly. They are an inexpensive way to help you breath easier!
It's not common knowledge that many vehicles are equipped with cabin air filters and these filters help to ensure the air we breathe is free of dust, dirt, pollen, mould, spores and other unwanted airborne particles.
Facts About Cabin Air Filters
- A new air filter can capture over 90 % of pollen and dust larger than 3 microns and the average human hair measures 30 times larger than that!
- Air drawn into the vehicle through the ventilation system can contain millions of microscopic particles
- These particles can clog a vehicle's heating and cooling systems and may make breathing less comfortable for those with respiratory sensitivity.
Many vehicle owners are not aware that their car has a cabin air filter that needs to be checked every 20,000 km and changed if required.
