2015 Ford Flex Preview 2015 Ford Flex Preview
by Miranda Lightstone

Pros: The Ford Flex offers plenty of interior space, plus the entire lineup of Ford gadgets and interior technology you’ve come to know and love.

Cons: While the Flex may appeal to those in need of a family vehicle who don’t want to purchase a minivan, the look of the Flex is starting to get a bit dated and is boxy by today’s vehicle design standards.

2015 Ford Flex Price and Fuel Economy: There are three versions of the 2015 Ford Flex available and they are as follows:

  • 2015 Ford Flex SE $30,899
  • 2015 Ford Flex SEL $37,699
  • 2015 Ford Flex Limited $44,799

As there are two engines available in the 2015 Ford Flex lineup, there are differing fuel economy numbers. For the SE and SEL models, you’ll see an average of 12.1L/100km, and in the Limited version with the EcoBoost that number changes to 12.7L/100km.

Powertrain: As mentioned above, the 2015 Ford Flex is available with two powertrain options. All three models can be equipped with the 3.5L ti-VCT V6 mill that produces 287 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque. The V6 is coupled with a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission and is available with FWD or AWD. The Ford Flex Limited is also available with a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 twin-turbocharged engine that pushes out 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Said engine is mated to a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

Changes and Improvements: Since its redesign in 2013, the Ford Flex has not seen any major changes or improvements.

Cargo Capacity: The 2015 Ford Flex is all about versatility in terms of practicality and space. With seating for seven or eight, depending on seat configuration, it also offers up 566L of cargo capacity behind the third row. Fold that row down and the cargo room grows to 1,223L. And if you have all rows down, the 2015 Ford Flex will swallow up 2,356L of stuff!

Safety: The 2015 Ford Flex is equipped with all manner of standard safety equipment and airbags, as well as an available Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, available adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake assist, as well as available second-row inflatable safety belts.

Comparing the 2015 Ford Flex: Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot.
