2015 Ford F-350 Preview 2015 Ford F-350 Preview
by Miranda Lightstone

Pros: Ford’s lineup of SuperDuty pickups is impressive and loaded with lots of choice for customization. The F-350 sits nicely in the middle of the SuperDuty pack offering up a solid workhorse performance you’d expect from the Blue Oval.

Cons: This truck is big in every sense of the word from its size to its price tag, and options and customizations can skyrocket the final sticker price.

2015 Ford F-350 Price and Fuel Economy: There are five highly capable versions of the F-350 available to peruse in the SuperDuty lineup and they are as follows (with starting MSRP prices):

  • Ford F-350 XL $37,599
  • Ford F-350 XLT $43,749
  • Ford F-350 Lariat $55,949
  • Ford F-350 King Ranch $65,349
  • Ford F-350 Platinum $69,549

As far as fuel economy goes, Ford hasn’t released official ratings for the F-350 lineup of pickups. But then, you’re not going to purchase an F-350 because it’s good on gas.

Powertrain: Two powerplants are available across the F-350 lineup; a 6.2L V8 gas-powered mill (385 horsepower/405 lb-ft of torque), and a 6.7L PowerStroke V8 diesel unit (440 horsepower/860 lb-ft of torque). An optional Electronic Shift-On-the-Fly 4-wheel system is standard on most F-350s (optional on one), and all power is controlled via a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

Changes and Improvements: The Ford lineup of Super Duty trucks hasn’t gone through any major changes like the F-150 has.

Cargo Capacity: Two box lengths are available across the lineup: a 6 ¾’ or 8’. There are also three cabs to choose from -- Crew Cab, Regular Cab, Super Cab -- however, they are not available across the board.

The F-350 has a max towing capacity of 26,700lb, max payload of 7,260lb, and a segment-leading GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of 14,000lb. The 2015 F-350 is also available in single rear wheel (SRW) or dual rear wheel (DRW) configuration.

Safety: The 2015 Ford F-350 is equipped with all manner of standard safety equipment and airbags, along with side-impact airbags, AdvanceTrac with RSC and trailer sway control (single rear wheel models).

Comparing the 2015 Ford F-350: RAM 3500, GMC Sierra 3500 HD, Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD.
