2015 Ford Escape Preview 2015 Ford Escape Preview
by Miranda Lightstone

Pros: The Ford Escape is loaded with the latest and greatest in technological gadgetry. Plus, there are two EcoBoost engines to choose from in the Escape lineup, as well.

Cons: The Ford Escape, while fun to drive and nice to look at, is starting to look and feel a bit long in the tooth as it was introduced as it still is today back in 2012. Its segment competition is offering new looks and tech and the Escape has to jump back on the “new” bandwagon.

2015 Ford Escape Price and Fuel Economy: There are three different Ford Escape models to choose from, each offering a different engine and spec set-up. I’ll get to engines in a moment, but first the pricing and fuel numbers.

  • 2015 Ford Escape S $25,249; 10.9L/100km city, 7.6L/100km highway
  • 2015 Ford Escape SE $27,349; 10.4L/100km city, 7.4L/100km highway (FWD); 10.6L/100km city, 8.0L/100km highway (AWD)
  • 2015 Ford Escape Titanium $33,749; 10.9L/100km city, 8.0L/100km highway (FWD); 11.4L/100km city, 10.1L/100km highway (AWD)

Powertrain: The Ford Escape lineup really does have something for everyone, including three powertrains to choose from.

The Escape S features a naturally aspirated 2.5L Duratec inline-4 engine that produces 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The Escape SE houses a 1.6L EcoBoost inline-4 mill that’s good for 178 horsepower (with premium fuel) and 184 lb-ft of torque. And finally, the Escape Titanium has a 2.0L EcoBoost engine that’s good for 240 horsepower (with premium fuel) and 270 lb-ft of torque. Both the SE and Titanium engines are turbocharged.

While the S is only available in FWD, both the SE and Titanium can be ordered with Ford’s Intelligent 4WD. And all Escape models control their power via a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

Changes and Improvements: No changes were made for the 2015 Ford Escape model.

Cargo Capacity: The Ford Escape can seat five, and offers up 971L of cargo space with the second row up and 1,920L with it folded.

Safety: The 2015 Ford Escape comes equipped with all manner of standard safety features and airbags.

Comparing the 2015 Ford Escape: Nissan Rogue, Mitsubishi RVR, Mazda CX-5, Chevrolet Trax, Dodge Journey.
