Pros: This is the largest, most comfortable and most capable Lincoln in the fleet. When driving, the 2014 Lincoln Navigator does not seem as large as it really is.

Cons: The engine is old technology and the transmission is a 6-speed while competitors are moving towards seven or more gears. The Navigator is only available in Canada as a 4X4.

Price: The Navigator MSRP is listed as $75,110, while the Navigator L carries a sticker price of $78,110.

Fuel Economy (city/highway/combined in L/100km): 16.4/11.4

Improvements and Changes: The Lincoln Navigator and the Navigator L, which is 378 mm longer, come into 2014 unchanged and with very few choices since nearly everything is standard.

Exterior Styling: Of the large-sized SUVs Lincoln has the most balanced design. From the massive front grille done in standard Lincoln design to the rear liftgate, the fenders, hood, doors, and even the roof rails are in proportion.

Interior: Seven people can lounge in sumptuous comfort in the Lincoln or stretch out even more in the Lincoln L. Front seats are heated and cooled. The SYNC™ entertainment system provides a basis for stereo entertainment, Satellite radio, and GPS navigation with Bluetooth™ and various inputs, as well as storage for personalized music, phone lists and voice activation of some functions.

• Navigator:
Maximum towing capacity is listed as 3,946 kg (8,700 lb).
Maximum payload is 748 kg (1,650 lb.).
Volume behind the third row is 515.5 litres, and with the third row folded down is 1,540 litres.
• Navigator L:
Maximum towing capacity is 3,856 kg (8,500 lb).
Maximum payload is 721 kg (1,590 lb).
Maximum volume behind the 3rd row is 1,206.3 litres, and with the third row folded down is 2,443 litres.

Powertrain: The 2014 Lincoln Navigator uses a 5.4L 3-valve per cylinder, SOHC V8 that produces 310 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic with four-wheel drive capabilities is the only transmission used in the Navigator.

Safety: Dual front, front-seat side impact and full-length side curtain airbags are standard. SOS post-crash alert system is standard. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, traction control, stability control, roll mitigation control, and curve control are standard. Forward and reverse sensing systems alert the driver of impending dangers. Distance-sensing cruise control, Tire Pressure monitoring System, and rear door child-proof locks, as well as the LATCH system to anchor child seats are all standard.
